This year’s Greater Manchester Construction Summit is set to attract more than 500 delegates, making it the largest event of its kind outside London.

The summit, which takes place on July 15 at The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Club, is being organised by Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

With construction output worth £30bn in the north west alone up to 2018, the summit will address the key issues of growth, procurement, innovation, skills and training.

Delegates will be able to vote live on various issues during the summit to fully inform the debates.

It will also highlight how the devolution of powers to the North means it is increasingly important that businesses have an outlet to understand how policy is being made and how they in turn can affect policy.

Bridget Bartlett, Deputy Chief Executive of the CIOB, which is collaborating with the Chamber on the summit, said: “With a multi-billion pound pipeline of work, Manchester and the construction industry have an opportunity to create a sustainable legacy that will shape the city for generations to come and could point the way for other cities around the world.

“Part of that has to include developing local skills and talent and attracting them into a professional career in construction. The summit brings together many of Manchester’s key players and we look forward to taking part in a lively discussion.”

The other summit partners are: NWCH, ICE, RIBA, ACE, University of Salford, Manchester University, Forum for the Built Environment, North West ICG, RICS, Manchester Growth Company, NW Client Group, NFB, CITB, ICES (Chartered Institute of Surveyors) and Constructing Excellence – Manchester Club.
